what was that about writing in less than a month?

oops! I swear I will get better at this.

I actually have found a lot of knitting time, and just in time for Summer of Socks, I have become sock OBSESSED! I have finished three pairs of socks and am 3/4 of the way through another… You know what it is… I’ve been bitten by the Monkey bug… I’ve got two pairs on the needles and one already finished… The only reason I have two on the needles is because I’m visiting with a friend and was at the heel turn of one, and since Summer of Socks started I thought I’d cast on a sock for that… :)

So for the finished pairs…

I’ll get better at updating someday… for now… it’s all about socks for the summer!

knitting?

Wow, it’s been a lonnnng time since I’ve written… Work has been so crazy, I’ve been coaching my gymnastics girls at meets almost every other weekend for the last month and a half (finally done!!) and traveling various places while I’m not coaching or working.

I took some time in the beginning of April to visit a friend from high school in Boston. We had a ton of fun and even visited cheers ☺. I ‘wasn’t allowed’ to go yarn shopping (not that we had a whole lot of time, I was only there two days) but here is a picture of a yarn store that was attached to the bar we went to the first night…. A bar that only a knitter could really appreciate ☺

Anyways on the knitting front I have two finished projects… Both are pairs of socks… I’m actually doing pretty well on my pair a month deal… The march socks were finishing up my “Healthy Spine Socks” which I started back in August when I was having back problems. The pattern is by Wendy and it was such a joy to knit. I love knitting socks toe up and it was great to have a nice pattern within them. They are so light and airy they’ll work great for this summer as well (when you work with men who like the air on… wool socks are very acceptable ☺).

Yarn: Spritely Goods Slyph
Colorway: Evening Storm
Needle Size: 2

The other project I’ve finished was the Hill County Yarns sock club from March 2008… these were my April socks. I knit the pattern as is in the large size. The only place I should’ve stopped with the pattern was on the toe. Overall I’m pretty happy with this pair of socks… I’m wearing them now ☺.

In other knitting news on my trip to Boston, I knit a few inches of the chevron scarf I started back in august. I think that is just going to be an ongoing project… really, knitting a scarf on size 3 needles isn’t my project of choice but I love the way it looks knitted up!!!! I’m also coming along on the central park hoodie. I took some time away from knitting it because I didn’t have a lot of knitting time in April. I’m back to working on it and finished the back of it and have started the left front. The goal is to get it done by the start of July. (shouldn’t be too hard, but with my schedule lately I have no clue!!)

I also decided on a pattern and yarn for my friends’ wedding blanket. Unfortunately I only bought one skien of the yarn just to swatch… and they’re not marking it anymore and I can’t even find it online… so I’m going to need to go back to the yarn store and pick another one… although I’m thinking about knit picks wool of the andes because that’s nice to knit with… Ether that or Valley Yarns something… I like their yarns too… so we’ll see… Still thinking it through. I have the pattern idea in my head; I just need to lay that out… Anyways…

I’ve also knit half a sock for May with Lorna’s Laces Bittersweet. It’s on size 2.5 so they’re flying by… I started it yesterday and just finished the heel… I have a lot of car / train time in the next day so I’m hoping to finish one up.

Last but not least, congrats to mike… who graduated today!!!! ☺

I promise I’ll check in sooner next time!!!!

Happy Easter!

I started this pair of sock from Lorna’s Laces in the Sandridge colorway back in September… The pattern is Charade… The first sock took 6 months to knit… the second sock took 6 days… hmmmm

This weekend I decided to knit up a pair of mittens in Silky Tweed (lets ignore the fact that I’ve already lost one of them…)

The last project I have to share is one that is interesting and has a story… my grandma knit stockings to match for each family for Christmas… She passed away in 2001 and at the time no one was really a knitter so my aunt just took the stuff and held onto it incase someone would want it some day…. Last December (2006) I wanted to knit stockings and my mom called up my aunt who happened to have it… as a surprise my aunt mailed me a box with the stocking pattern and a stocking that was just missing a toe… It was april at the time and I was insanely busy with school so it got set aside… This past weekend in honor of my Grandma (7 years to the day after she passed away) I finished up that toe… so… I just have to sew up the sides but you can’t see it in this picture (but it looks kinda rolled up)…

I ran away…

Sorry, I got busy with work… i swear there was a time when this blog was updated almost every day, and now it’s like huh? sitting at the computer? are you CRAZY!? :) Anyways I have a few FO’s to share…

This is the Rory Bag and it is the second of free patterns listed on the sidebar! :) It was inspired by Gilmore Girls (an episode, a bag, you get the idea) so it was knit up on size 13’s with patons merino colorway Regency. Download the pattern, add it to your ravelry queue… all that fun stuff!

This is a baby blanket knit for my second(third?) cousin whose due sometime soon! It’s knit out of Bernat Baby Stripes yarn and was done on size 8 needles. Great knit, basically a giant grandma’s favorite dishcloth!

dscn6614.JPG

This is a simple hat knit out of Donegal Tweed.. it’s knit on size 9s and just a basic hat pattern, nothing all that exciting. I knit it up last weekend to match my scarf

I wish things were more interesting, work has just been non stop this week so i’m going to make this short so i actually have time to get some other stuff done tonight, happy valentines day all!
