moving on

i’ve moved… leave a comment if you want to know where i headed to :)

it’s going to be a more open blog, not just knitting focused, but there will still be knitting!!! :) make sure to update your bookmarks!

Its been awhile

work = crazy
family stuff = crazy
knitting = sorta happening :)

So at the beginning of July I took a trip to Italy :) (amazing amazing amazing) We were going with my french family so I took two pairs of monkey socks along for my French mom and french sister… The blue ones on the previous entry and these pretty brown ones

French No Purl Monkeys

Yarn: Valley Yarns Huntington
Needle: Size 1.5
Pattern: Monkey Socks

This yarn was a dream to work with, i highly recommend it… it does not come in all of the crazy colors but it’s so soft and definitely worth a try! i finished these socks about 2 hours before we left for the airport… so please excuse the lack of sock blockers… those were in Indiana and I was in ohio :)

I took a sweater and a pair of socks with to work on in Italy.  I knit about half of a sock during the week we were there and only did about the top half of a sweater on the plane ride there and back… I dont have any sweater pictures…but I do have a picture of the one sock. (I finished it this past weekend) I have cast on the second one and will hopefully finish it soon… The yarn is the Grinch colorway from DK Knits… the colors just seemed appropriate :)

Italian Monkeys

I have also started my FOURTH pair of monkeys… They are with the Chocoberry Colorway from Perfect DayYarns. I’m not too far along but heres a small picture

Perfect Day Yarns Monkeys

I bought some AMAZINGLY soft yarn while I was in Italy and have started a shawl with it… I’m not too far and there are some extra yarn overs… but I’m convinced I can do it this time!
Italian Shalw

Second to last… My work knitting has been the start of my Barn Raising Quilt with left over sock yarn… I’ve only finished one square but I’ve started another…

Yarn from my first pair of socks...

I also finally cast on for my best friends Wedding blanket… Her wedding is May of 2009… so I have a long time but we all know how well I do with long term projects :)

With that said, I’m off… For those of you wondering about the podcast, it will be back eventually… I need to work through some stuff at the moment!

what was that about writing in less than a month?

oops! I swear I will get better at this.

I actually have found a lot of knitting time, and just in time for Summer of Socks, I have become sock OBSESSED! I have finished three pairs of socks and am 3/4 of the way through another… You know what it is… I’ve been bitten by the Monkey bug… I’ve got two pairs on the needles and one already finished… The only reason I have two on the needles is because I’m visiting with a friend and was at the heel turn of one, and since Summer of Socks started I thought I’d cast on a sock for that… :)

So for the finished pairs…

knitting?

Wow, it’s been a lonnnng time since I’ve written… Work has been so crazy, I’ve been coaching my gymnastics girls at meets almost every other weekend for the last month and a half (finally done!!) and traveling various places while I’m not coaching or working.

I took some time in the beginning of April to visit a friend from high school in Boston. We had a ton of fun and even visited cheers ☺. I ‘wasn’t allowed’ to go yarn shopping (not that we had a whole lot of time, I was only there two days) but here is a picture of a yarn store that was attached to the bar we went to the first night…. A bar that only a knitter could really appreciate ☺

Anyways on the knitting front I have two finished projects… Both are pairs of socks… I’m actually doing pretty well on my pair a month deal… The march socks were finishing up my “Healthy Spine Socks” which I started back in August when I was having back problems. The pattern is by Wendy and it was such a joy to knit. I love knitting socks toe up and it was great to have a nice pattern within them. They are so light and airy they’ll work great for this summer as well (when you work with men who like the air on… wool socks are very acceptable ☺).

Yarn: Spritely Goods Slyph
Colorway: Evening Storm
Needle Size: 2
Pattern: Healthy Spine Socks

The other project I’ve finished was the Hill County Yarns sock club from March 2008… these were my April socks. I knit the pattern as is in the large size. The only place I should’ve stopped with the pattern was on the toe. Overall I’m pretty happy with this pair of socks… I’m wearing them now ☺.

Colorway: ?
Needle Size: 3
Pattern: Mary Mary Quite Contrary

In other knitting news on my trip to Boston, I knit a few inches of the chevron scarf I started back in august. I think that is just going to be an ongoing project… really, knitting a scarf on size 3 needles isn’t my project of choice but I love the way it looks knitted up!!!! I’m also coming along on the central park hoodie. I took some time away from knitting it because I didn’t have a lot of knitting time in April. I’m back to working on it and finished the back of it and have started the left front. The goal is to get it done by the start of July. (shouldn’t be too hard, but with my schedule lately I have no clue!!)

I also decided on a pattern and yarn for my friends’ wedding blanket. Unfortunately I only bought one skien of the yarn just to swatch… and they’re not marking it anymore and I can’t even find it online… so I’m going to need to go back to the yarn store and pick another one… although I’m thinking about knit picks wool of the andes because that’s nice to knit with… Ether that or Valley Yarns something… I like their yarns too… so we’ll see… Still thinking it through. I have the pattern idea in my head; I just need to lay that out… Anyways…

I’ve also knit half a sock for May with Lorna’s Laces Bittersweet. It’s on size 2.5 so they’re flying by… I started it yesterday and just finished the heel… I have a lot of car / train time in the next day so I’m hoping to finish one up.

Last but not least, congrats to mike… who graduated today!!!! ☺

I promise I’ll check in sooner next time!!!!

Happy Easter!
